Hello.

So I just d/l and installed hotspots. I'm wondering the following:

Is there documentation?
Can this be used as a standalone joomla component, or is Sobi2 required?
Where is the publishing option where you set the page you would like the map to display?

Thank you. Looking forward to hearing back.

Jason

Hey Jason,
Nope, there is no documentation at this stage, but each option in the backend has a description, so it should not be that difficult to figure out what the options in the config are doing :)

It is a standalone component, sobi2 is not required.

You have to go to the menu -> create a new link -> choose hotspots -> choose the start category and you are done.

Cheers,
Daniel

P.S. Are you a newbie with joomla? Because this is pretty much the way all joomla extensions work -> you have to go to the menu and create a new link to them.

Hi Daniel.

Thanks for the quick reply! Somewhat new in that I'm still learning, and don't always connect the dots :) I never even bothered to think about building it into a menu item, because I was too busy thinking module positions.

Okay, so that leads me to my next questions.
Is there a way to bulk import via a csv?
What is the difference between Addspot and Default layouts vs Hotspot Default Layouts?
-Addspot generates my custom marker, my test category, and a bunch of route planning/other links. But no map
-The "all" option does about the same. But no map.
-The hotspot option generates my one hotspot, but no map. (This one I understand, it generates a map with a single hotspot)

I've gone through the settings and have them set up the way I believe I would like them to be, entered my api key, but am not getting a map to come up. Forgive me if i'm missing something really obvious, but am just a little confused.

There is a bug in the component and addspot and all do the same right now. That is going to change with the next version.
Could you give me a link to your page please, I smell a js error.

Hey Jason,
I looked at the source and the file "/buhler1joomla1/media/com_hotspots/js/hotspots.js" is missing. When I try to open it I get 403 Access Fobidden. That is why you don't see any map.

Now I can't tell you why you get this message - you will have to ask your hosting provider about that. Also you can check that the file is really there in the media/com_hotspots/js/ folder

The file was missing. Reinstalled, and now it sort of works. The map shows as loading, but never fully loads. The map controls load fine, just no map.

Thanks again for the awesome support!

So I turned off analytics tracking for that page in case it was a js conflict, cleared the cache and reloaded the page. Firebug showed the following error:

invalid regular expression flag d
032a8a6.netsolhost.com/buhler1joomla1/me...spots/js/hotspots.js
Line 258

This image is also missing:

If you put it there I think that the map will load.

Thanks so much Daniel.
Everything loaded (the image was missing b/c I uninstalled the extension due to another unrelated problem). Its working now.

My final question (I hope)...is there any way to upload via csv or otherwise a lot of markers?

Jason

Thanks

Nope, there isn't right now. But you can try to import your csv feed directly into the database table with phpmyadmin.
