TOPIC: Joomla 1.7 - German Language

I just bought a Subscription and installed the component on Joomla 1.7 so far without problems.

I read in the description of the component, that there is also German language support. When I go to the language folder I can only find a old German language file for Joomla 1.5.
So where can I find and download the German translation for Joomla 1.7?

How did you figure out that the language file is old? I mean it is already transformed for 1.7, but there is only translation for the frontend. When you enable the language debugging in the global configuration of joomla do you see any errors in this file?

The German language file available in the download has e.g. no double quotes and so it should not be ready for Joomla 1.7.

Ah, forget about those... The latest german version is distributed with the main package. If you unzip the compojoomcomment.zip file on your computer, then browse to language/de-DE you should find the latest one. It should be actually installed on your system together with the component???
Let me know if the file in the package does the job.

Anyway, the language wasn't installed automatically during the installation of the component. I installed the component but do not have the german file in the language folder at the moment.
Will have a look at the zip and add it manually.

Ah, ok, got it.
The German language file was installed in the site language folder BUT was not working!
I found a mistake in the German language file. First line of the file there is a double double quote (""Kommentar schreiben). So the file was not loading on Joomla 1.7.

Corrected this on my server and now it works!

OK. I will have a closer look at it in the near future as I'm away from home for a few days starting tomorrow.

By the way, there is no German backend translation?
I'm the official German translator for the JEvents calendar project of Geraint Edwards. If you would be interested in a German backend translation let me know. I could do this - but it will take some time as I have some other projects I'm working on at the moment.

Tested the frontend translation, doesn't look bad! And it works now.

Anyway, I do not know if someone else is working on a German backend translation for your component. So if you want to do this, just drop me a line.

Arghhhh - ich glaub die wäre bei Dir in besseren Hände, hätte ich mir ja mein Englisch sparen können.

Aber ok, ich kümmere mich darum, ist einfach besser auch das Backend auf Deutsch zu haben.
