Hello there,

Just wondering how third party components integration works. Does the coding has to be done by the CompoJoom crew, or by third party component's devs ?

For example, i need support for K2, JDownloads, PhocaGallery, standard WebLinks, and BookLibrary. If i jfollow the CompoJoom route, should i ask you, or these third party devs, for integration of your comment system to take place ?

I'm also using a phpBB3 bridge, p8pbb Bridge from Blogomunity (works really great here), is there a way to use Avatars and user's Profiles from this component into CompoJoom, knowing that most of the users on my website are using the phpBB3 profile to tweak their infos (which are automatically reflected in the J! profile, except Avatar) ? p8pbb Bridge supports CB and JomSocial, but i don't need these, any chance to make this happen ?

Thanks for reading.

Hey Dode,
We have k2 integration already. Basically - everyone who wishes to create plugin for 3rd party components is welcome to do this. I myself have spend time creating most of the available plugins right now.

At the moment I don't have the time to write those plugins you request as I'm busy with the next version of CComment that will have an even easier API for 3rd party developers - it will take them like 20 mins to write the plugin - so there won't be any excuse for the people that don't integrate.

My goal with the component is to make it easy for people to use (of course), but also to make it as much developer friendly as possible. Right now I'm doing a lot of refactoring as the component is actually 7 years old - and code 7 years ago looked different than now :)

About the phpBB avatar support - this has been requested quite a lot of times and it is on the todo list.

Kind regards,
Daniel

Thanks a lot for your honest reply Daniel ! Really appreciated !

I guess i'll wait for the forthoming CComment component, and then, if you still support K2 and maybe later JDownloads (i've forwarded your answer to the dev of this component, as he is also looking for a comment system (preferably GPL but anyway)), you will sure count me in !

phpBB3 avatars would be great also, hope it will happen in CComment at launch.

Hey Dode,
Please talk to the JDownloads developer and ask him to contact me! I'll give him a free version so that he can build the plugin...

Cheers,
Daniel

P.S. Btw - the code is GPL, the thing that you guys pay for is support ;)
