Hey Daniel,

I know there's another post here that is called 'comments for CB profiles' but since I don't think it discusses the same issue, I opened this new post.

I think the previous post deals with the option to display comments, that have already been written and published elsewhere,
on the CB profile of the user.

What I would like to ask is whether there's an option or any existing plugin that would enable the users to post new comments
on CB profile pages (just as they post new comments on articles).
I've noticed you offer in the download section of CompojoomComment - plugins the Compojoom Walls for JomSocial.
I don't know if that is what I'm looking for - but for JomSocial, but anyways it would be great to know if you already have an option or a plugin that would enable the users to post comments on CB profile pages.

The other thread discusses a TAB formed presentation of Comments made anywhere on the site.

But yes, something like this would be super cool.
As I see it, there are already a Profile Wall and Profile Book.

Which in turn indicates that just another identical Tab with the title Profile Comments is not really the thing.
I think (and hope this is what you are meaning), is a Commenting possibility for the Profile itself.
Sort of in a similar fashion as to how WAYD is done. -WAYD is done by a sentence just under the Profile User name. (WAYD = What Are You Doing).

A Profile comment, should be as a comment, ie: under the profile, that is readable regardles off what Tab the viewer is on.
Would be great!

I already tested the CB Profilebook and Profile wall (by Joomlapolis). They offer comments on the CB profile page.
However, this is far than good for me. Too many probelms so I'm not publishing it.
I need CompojoomComment on CB profile pages.
No need to change it to a special feature with special function or title (such as WAYD).
Just the same CompojoomComment displayed also on CB profile pages in order to leave comments on a profile page.

Again, it might be a plugin for CB, just like the plugin Compojoom Walls for JomSocial (if that's what it is - I don't know).
A plugin in CB creates also a tab to display the content in, but it doesn't mean that you have to display it in a tab format.
I for example chose to display all CB tabs on the profile pages as raw dispaly or div with title, so all the content is on one continuous display on the page with no tabs - but anyone can choose what he wants in CB tabs parameters.

Hey Guys,
Well, let the testing begin :)
compojoom.com/downloads/downloads/compojoom-comment/plugins - install the wall plugin from components->community bulder->plugins

compojoom.com/downloads/downloads/compoj...ojoomcomment-plugins - get the plugin for CB and unzip it and upload it to administrator/components/com_comment/plugin -> then go to your backend components->compojoom comment -> settings click new and create a new setting for com_comprofiler . This should be all - if you have enabled everything then you should see the comment form in your profile under the tab comments.

Thanks for the push Owen - I wanted to make this plugin. The CB user didn't have to feel left alone from us :)

@Nils - Would you change your footer to CompojoomComment and not JoomlaComment :)

Cheers and let me know if everything is working :)
Daniel

I have tried to change the footer, but I do not have access to my Profile stuff like that anymore.
When I press my Profile, I get to the CB Profile, and then pressing the Update or Edit Profile, there is no field for Footer or Signature.
I believe this is due to the change of Forum component.

Thank you Daniel!
I downloaded the first plugin you listed (the wall plugin), but the second link you provided doesn't contain the second
plugin that is supposed to be there (the one to upload to /administrator/components/com_comment/plugin).
Apart from theat, I currently won't be able to install and test on a production website and it would take me a few days
until I could create a new installation for the purpose of testing,
In order for you to verify that everything is working well with this plugin and so you could wrap this issue up, do you think
perhaps in the mean time you'd be able to get a feedback from other CB users who would be interested in testing the plugin and confirm that all is well?

Hey Owen,
What do you mean with the plugin is not there? I just downloaded it from the page and it contains all necessary files.
Cheers,
Daniel

Daniel, I downloaded the plugin from the first link you'd provided, but the second link (which I understand from you should contain a second plugin) displays a message:
"Notice, Not Authorized to View Category".
I'm was logged in as a subscription user, but it could be a premission issue.
I suggest perhaps you can try to access this link with a regular username and not as admin. Maybe that's the issue...

Thanks for fixing the sig!

Downloaded this CB plugin etc.
Installed easy etc, fixed the settings etc...
And then bang, frontend stopped, claiming no directory etc. (-you know, the whole works of "Warning... bla bla...")
I have a bit of FTP trouble at the moment, so it took a bit of time backend ExtPlorer to find that it actually is there.

So I think this is a SQL issue, since I am not totally upgraded there yet... =(
Anyway, just unpublished the plugin and the site is working again.

Anyone care to share a framegrab of how this is looking? :=D

Thanks Daniel!
I'm really looking forward to use the comments on the profile pages. It would add a lot!
I hope by the time I could fully test it more people would be aware of the plugin and could test it and share
their results and experience.

Nils, I take it from what you wrote that you think it's a problem only on your specific website because of SQL issue, but if I understood wrong then please correct me so we'll know there's an overall issue that would affect everyone.

Thanks!
Owen

I think it is a server problem ONLY FOR ME, yes. But of course, it may not be...
My server is dedicated, so it is not a commercial server etc.

The fault message I get is:
Warning: getCompojoomCommentTab::require_once(C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\MYSITE/administrator/components/com_comment/plugin/com_comprofiler/josc_com_comprofiler.php) [getcompojoomcommenttab.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\MYSITE\components\com_comprofiler\plugin\user\plug_compojoomcommentwall\compojoomcomment.php on line 48

Fatal error: getCompojoomCommentTab::require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\MYSITE/administrator/components/com_comment/plugin/com_comprofiler/josc_com_comprofiler.php' (include_path='.;C:\php5\pear') in C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\MYSITE\components\com_comprofiler\plugin\user\plug_compojoomcommentwall\compojoomcomment.php on line 48

On the Maintenance tab of CompojoomComments component I see the message:
You can encounter problems with your mysql version. Please ask your host to upgrade to at least mysql5.0

MySQL Version: 4.1.22-community (installed) 5.0 or bigger (required)

This is what I believe to be the problem.
So I expect that most others will not have any problems with this installation.
I am having some FTP troubles at the moment on the server, due to new install issues... so it may be related to this... :/

Hey Nilsy,
From the error message that you've pasted it seems that this is not related in any way to mysql:

atal error: getCompojoomCommentTab::require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\MYSITE/administrator/components/com_comment/plugin/com_comprofiler/josc_com_comprofiler.php' (include_path='.;C:\php5\pear') in C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\MYSITE\components\com_comprofiler\plugin\user\plug_compojoomcommentwall\compojoomcomment.php on line 48

The error just indicates that the file
C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\MYSITE/administrator/components/com_comment/plugin/com_comprofiler/josc_com_comprofiler.php
is missing - so did you upload compojoomComment plugin for CB in the right directory???
do you have josc_com_comprofiler.php in C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\MYSITE/administrator/components/com_comment/plugin/com_comprofiler/ ?
Cheers,
Daniel

P.S. The next version of compojoomComment will have an installer for plugins, emoticons and templates - right in the backend, so that you won't need to upload anything per ftp. I'm working on this all day long :)

Hm... yeah, that's what I thought too... but then I checked, and those files appeared to be there...
I will re-check in the morning...

Hehe, not a perfect world without FTP connection working... =(

Ok... :rolleyes: nearly in place...
I hadn't renamed the REPLACEnewplugin files under the Administrator area.
So, I did that...

The fault message I am getting now is:
Fatal error: Class 'JOSC_com_comprofiler' not found in C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\MYSITE\components\com_comment\joscomment\utils.php on line 47

I see in the instructions that it says:
* in the following file :
* components/com_comprofiler/...
* at the following place : ....

But, components/com_comprofiler/... is a folder... not a file..
From previous installs etc, I know this is easy, and there is something stupid I am not seeing...

Hi all, thx for this plugin, i ave edited the code for show the comment only for connected user
//add in file compojoomcomment.xml:
<param name="connectshow" type="radio" default="0" label="show only for connected user" description="Display the Comment Tab only if user is connected with the owner profile">
					<option value="0">No</option>
					<option value="1">Yes</option>
				</param>

// add in file compojoomcomment.php:

		$params = $this->params; // get parameters (plugin and related tab)

		$print = $params->get('printView', "0");
		if($print) {
			return true;
		}

		// Show the comment only for connected user?
		$my         =& JFactory::getUser();
		$connshow   = $params->get('connectshow',0);
		if( $connshow == 1 && $my->id != $user->id){

            $cbCon		= new cbConnection( $my->id );
		    $ConDetails	= $cbCon->getConnectionDetails( $my->id, $user->id );
			//print_r($ConDetails);
		    // no comment if is not connected or connection pending 1
		    if ( !isset( $ConDetails->accepted ) || $ConDetails->accepted == 0 || $ConDetails->pending == 1 ) {
               return;
		    }
		}

		require_once(JPATH_SITE."/administrator/components/com_comment/plugin/com_comprofiler/josc_com_comprofiler.php");
		return output($user, $params);

not sure if is a good system for block comment, but is possible replace the return with a params for the output() function (and edit the plugin file)
plug-compojoomcommentwall.zip

p.s. sorry for my bad english ;)

That with the connected user is a nice option. I could add it as a param for the user.

I don't understan what you mean with:

but is possible replace the return with a params for the output() function (and edit the plugin file)
