TOPIC: Problems with Hotspots under IE8

I have hotspots 3.1.1 installed. Just updated today. At home I have Windows 7 running and IE9 Installed as well as Firefox 15. Everything released from 3.0 to 3.1.1 works brilliantly using both browsers. I am one happy customer.

At work we have Windows XP with IE8 installed. Hotspots 3.0/3.1/3.11 will not work/display correctly unless I put the machine into Compatability mode. With Firefox I have no issues. The only thing I'm worried about is that many schools in my location will be running IE8 and I'm worried they may have the same issue. I have over 700+ registered with my site and only 104 hotspots created.

Any thoughts or suggestions. Thanks for your time and help

Hey Seamus,
Can you give me a direct link to your Hotspots installation? Version 3.1.1 fixes several bugs that were preventing hotspots to work as it should on IE8. That is why if you use the latest version it should work properly! If it doesn't there must be another conflict on your page, but without a direct link I won't be able to confirm it.

As mentioned above, all works fine in every browser under the sun with the exception of IE8 at work. At work, I just get ablank page but have to put the site into compatability mode to display the maps.

The site has a Roketheme template (Modulus)

Also - I'm not 100% sure that the TOS of google maps allow you to deploy the map that way. I thought that it needs to be publicly available. (you might want to have a look at those:
developers.google.com/maps/terms section 9.1 - now I'm not a lawyer - so maybe what you do is fine, but I would have a look at it

Are you going to fix Hotspots to work on IE8 ?
Now even test version on labs doesn't work.

No plans to make it work on IE8. This browser is dead. Currently IE as a whole has less than 10% and IE is around 1.5% and dropping each month. No plans to support a 5 year old browser on a dead operating system. Even google has officially dropped support for it in 2012.
