Hello Daniel Dimitrov ,
I have been using your JoomlaComment on my site. I am a great fan of your component. Currently I have Joomlacomment 4.0 RC1 on my site Joomla 1.5.9
I have recently registered/ subscribed and downloaded compojoomcomment4.1.2.RC1.zip. In the first attempt the installation did not go through. Therefore, I want to know if I need to uninstall the previous version before I install the new. Thank you

Sanjay

Hey Sanjay,
Thank you for subscribing! I've moved your post to a separate thread.

So, yep you will have to first uninstall joomlacomment and then install compojoomcomment.

If you was updating from compojoomcomment 4.1 beta to 4.1.2RC1 - you would not have to uninstall, but this is not the case.

Please first uninstall joomlacomment, then install compojoomcomment.

Another thing! Please read the documentation that I've written:
compojoom.com/downloads/downloads/compoj...omment/documentation

It explains in details the update process.

And again thank you for subscribing ;)

hello sir,

Thank you for your quick reply. I backed up my site, uninstalled the previous version of Joomlacomment, I chose the default settings, in which I think the previous comments are preserved. However when I try to install the new component, I get this error
"Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /data/9/1/23/105/1349431/user/1446872/htdocs/remove/libraries/joomla/filesystem/archive/zip.php on line 320
"

I have tried several times.

Please reply

I tried to uninstall the previous version completely by deleting com_comment folders from components, and administrator/components folders. And then tried to install compojoom, but still get the same error
"Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /data/9/1/23/105/1349431/user/1446872/htdocs/remove/libraries/joomla/filesystem/archive/zip.php on line 318"

I tries to install a guestbook application successfully to test if there was any problem at the server side. I could successfully install Foca Guestbook component. So it seems to be a problem with the compojoom installer.

Hey Sanjay,
I just figured out that the documentation has an error in it.
When you go to page 9 you will see this text:
PHP Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in …
In shared hosting environments the server resources are shared between several clients. Because of this
the time necessary for update can be higher than 30 seconds. If you can set the time that a php script
can run on your server, then please set the variable in your php.ini to max_execution_time = 60;
If you are unable to set this variable in your php.ini or through an .htaccess file you could try Method 2
in the “CompojoomComment first time install” section.
Because we have unzipped the file folder on your computer we have saved several seconds of execution
time for the server’s CPU. If this doesn’t help, you will have to contact your server support and ask them
to increase the max_execution_time for php scripts.

So try to install it like in method 2. Tell us if it works.

Hi, I was able to install compojoom by uploading the files in the temp folder first. I could see the previous comments as well. But there is something I do not understand in the user interface. I do not find the place where I can block a user from posing spam, or do the changes in the look and feel of the comments box. Please reply

log in you backend->compojoom comment -> settings-> content settings-> and from here it looks the same way as with joomlacomment.

Do you find them?
