I have a site in joomla 1.5 ( www.ilmionido.com ) with jour old version of joomla-comments, now i am exporting it in a new istallation of joomla 2.5, i used j2xml (no other extentions works) to import articles and categories, how i have to do now to import old comments? Do i have to copy a special table to my new database? Or do they come with the articles?
May you list a step by step guide.

If you are using ccomment on your 1.5 site, make sure that you've updated to 4.2.1 . After that once you move all the comment tables to your joomla 2.5 site, make sure that they have same prefixes as your 2.5 tables.

And just install the latest ccomment version and everything is going to be fine. (it should pick up the tables, make the necessary modifications and everything should work just fine :))

Regards,
Daniel

all tables that have comment in them #__comment, #__comment_settings etc #__ = your table prefix - most probably jos_ .

You export them, and import them in joomla 2.5. Then with phpmyadmin you can click on the table, go to the operations tab and change the table names (you need to set the prefix that is used on your joomla 2.5 site).

Once you have this, install the latest version and the comments should show as expected.

Regards,
Daniel

Hi  , in my 1.5 joomla i have Joomlacomment 4.0 RC1, in the admin panel there is not the possibility to download and do the upgrade.
Navigating your site i was not able to get 4.2.1 version, can you put here a direct link for the download!
Once i download, how upgrade, just load with ftp and and overwrite files?
Thanks

CComment 4.2.1 is available only to subscribers ( I thought you had a subscription as you have posted in the PRO section).

Hi, i became a subscriber, and i downloaded last PRO comment version, i downloaded also comment 4.2.1 for my joom1.5 site but, once i installed the component goes in error and doesn't work any more. So i reinstalled a backup of my site.
Any way, i m trying now to copy the tables from joomla 1.5 site, i exported the tables named jos_comment, jos_comment_captcha, jos_comment_joomvertising, jos_comment_setting, jos_comment_voting and imported them in a joomla3.1.5 site with jcomment installed and where i already migrated all the articles.
Now i have to change the prefix but, when i try to rename of course the sistem says that table with name i chosen already exist.
What to do?
Or do "General Import" and select the tables? Which one?
Another question: if i try to put a new comment now, before to import old comments, the sistems remain with "saving" frozen and nothing happen. I already set super user as moderator group and Content creator moderator to yes but the result is alwais the same.

Hey Giuseppe,
Thanks for bumping! I was on vacation and missed this thread.

So, when you install 4.2.1 on joomla 1.5 does it at least install correctly? It doesn't matter that it doesn't work after that. It updated the tables... Once the tables are updated you can add it to your 2.5/3.0 installation and after that you can install version 5. It will pick up that the previous version in question is 4.2.1 and it will make again the necessary table changes.

But right now I think that you are right -> you can use the import and map the table field to the new table and click on import. It seems that this would be the fastest way.

Regards,
daniel

you said that you already have the jos_comment tables there.
So just do a migration and map the fields to your current #__comment table.

About the frozen save button, please give us an url to debug and I'll tell you what is going on.

Hey Giuseppe,
There is an internal server error that occurs on the server. Because error reporting is turned off I can't tell you more. Please start a private ticket and provide me with backend access + ftp and I'll fix the issue.

Daniel
