TOPIC: No URL Icon in IE 8 for Joomlacomment 4.0 RC1

Hello,

I saw another thread that discussed this topic and how to fix the icon problem, but I just installed Joomlacomment 4.0 RC1 (which contains the fix), and I'm still not seeing the URL icon in IE 8. Here's a link:

Your sites URL icon is showing up from both FF and IE8 from here...

There was a version (can't remember which now), where the icon was missing.
On a closer look, everything was in fact working, although it was just the actual image file (../images/html.png) that was missing.

This was easiest visible of course in IE, as IE doesn't close tags like FF. So in FF the space was just omitted, whereas IE would create a blank image space, with the outline.

Hm Steven I can see the image. Are you sure that you have cleared your browser cache?

Hmmm, the good news is that you can see the icons - hopefully meaning my visitors can also see them. I've tried IE on two different computers and still cannot see them. I did clear the cache, and still no luck. The icons work fine in FF, no problems at all, it's just IE I can't see them. Any other ideas?

Well, I am not seeing it as you do, obviously... from here everything seems correct.
I know that previous versions of IE had trouble seeing PNG image files.
But if it was this, then other PNG images would also be unreadable for you. So if that is the case, then I would re-install the IE8, and test it again.

Can you see this URL icon?

Thanks Nils, that's good news the icons are working correctly for you, and I am able to see the world icon in your post. The problem is probably with my browser, even though I am able to see other .png files. I'll try reinstalling, or upgrading, my browswer and see if that helps. One thing I did notice different about the comment boxes in my IE and FF browsers is that in FF there's only one line in the grey title box area which contains (from right to left) person icon, author, title, (space), world icon, email icon, "Author", date and time. However, in IE there are two lines in the grey title box area, and the first line contains (missing) world icon, (missing) email icon, "Author", (space), date and time, and the second line contains person icon, author, and title. So the format for IE and FF are not showing up the same.

For me the templates in IE and in firefox are absolutly the same - everything is on one line. The image appears in IE and in FF. Is the page zoomed in IE?

I took a screenshot and attached it so you could see what I'm seeing - it's probably my IE installation, and I'm hoping to have time this week to upgrade.
