Hi folks,
I have 2 issues, one simple and one not so simple.
The simple one is: I can link from Hotspots to a K2 article via the "ReadMore", but can I set it up to link when the Title is clicked on? Also, the 'Readmore' is not bolded. (see the attached screen print image)

Mymore important other issue is with the use of Extra Fields in K2 / Hotspots, and will be a long post, and I greatly apologise for that, but I am totally confused here, and need this spelled out for me if that is OK....
Screen prints would be good, as I have read the documentation and gone through the Forum, but still can't make sense of it.
My system configuration details are at the bottom of this post.

I CAN link a K2 article to a Hotspot location, and link vie the 'Readmore' to the K2 article........ BUT my problem is wiht the 'Extra Fields' ---- I simply cannot understand the use of the Extra Field' in K2/Hotspots, and cannot get it to bring in the location into Hotspots.

In one forum post ( compojoom.com/forum/52-newbie-area/18843-hotspots-and-k2#26883 ) you say "You can connect the categories with the k2 extra fields.
What you need to do is create the custom fields in hotspots. And then in the extra field mapping enter
hotspots_field=k2_extrafield one field per line. Then when you create a k2 item, we'll use the extra field mapping config to enter the data in hotspots."

Where does this hotspots_field=k2_extrafield mapping actually go????? and in my case (see 2 & 4 below), would this code be: hotspot-address=k2-hotspot-address

In another Forum post, ( compojoom.com/forum/2-general-talk/19059...ies-on-the-map#26375 ), Simon posted: "You have to ensure that you setup an extrafield group in K2 with an extrafield set as a textfield.
Make sure that the category which you use is configured to use the corresponding extrafield group.
Once you have that setup, then in the K2 Hotspots plugin, select the corresponding k2 category and make sure to set the Address to pick the correct extrafield name you setup.
Now, in the K2 item, in the corresponding category, make sure to add the address details in the extrafields tab.
Now make sure that the component settings are set to display the K2 content, you should see that there are now items in the Hot Spot Locations"

I cannot ese where to set the address as in Simons post above: "and make sure to set the Address to pick the correct extrafield name you setup" - I cannt see this in the Plugin.

My system configuration details are:
I have K2 version 2.6.8.
I have Hotspots version Hotspots Professional 4.2.4

1. In K2 I have a category called 'Caravan Parks' with an alias of 'caravan-parks' and the Cat Id is 11 (in my case)
2. In K2 I have an 'Extra Field' called 'hotspot Address' and this is a Text field associated with the 'Caravan Parks' category
3. In Hotspots I have a category called 'Hotspot Caravan Parks' and the Cat Id is 2 (in my case)
4. In Hotspots I have a Custom Field called 'hotspot-address'
5. I have enabled the Hotspots plugins:
'Hotspots Links - K2' (no configuration required for this) and
'Hotspots Links - Articles' (no configuration required for this) and
'K2 - Hotspots '
6. In the K2 - Hotspots plugin I have configured as folllows:
Category Hotspot Caravan Parks
Category mapping 11=2 (this is my K2 category and my Hotspots category)
Link to K2
Hotspot name {title}
Description {introtext}<hr id='system-readmore' />{fulltext}
Default latitude 49.149682
Default longitude 8.304147
Show map Yes
Map height 400
Map width 0
Map zoom 12

7. In the K2 article (Id = 1448), I have loaded the 'Extra Field', and put an address in, say "123 MyStreet, Brisbane, Quensland, Australia"
8. In the Hotspots location, I have set the Marker Custom Options to:
Marker Icon Same As Category
Link to K2
Article Id 1445 (the relevant K2 article)
Show Readmore Use Global

Thanks, Mike

Hey there Mike,
You can make the title clickable with a template override, but I would advise against this. If you have a closer look -> clicking anywhere - title, text, image in the menu - just opens the whole description of that item. And it also gives you the ability to get directions, zoom in, read more. Now if the title is clickable all the time -> users will jump to the item wihtout first seeing the description. This is undesirable - > you want your users to have a first look at the information, then if they like what they see go further.
The readmore is not bolded, because your template is not styling readmore buttons that way. Actually all those buttons down there have to be simple links, but your template has a different opinion about that. Without a link to your page I can't tell you what you need to change.

So about k2. Those posts are old. We no longer require any extra fields in k2 for mapping the address.
Once the k2 - hotspots plugin is enabled in K2 you should have a map and fields to enter the address. Here is a screenshot:https://www.diigo.com/item/image/48vz2/mnv9

I have the strange feeling that you don't have this map and fields below your k2 entry? Are you sure that the k2 Hotspots plugin is enabled?

Regards,
Daniel
