Hey Daniel,

You may remember the events site I was working on, that you helps with the HotSpots issues, well I just found out what Matukio is!!

I have two applications I am working on that need some event management.
The first is the sunny worthing site, which is currently using a heavily modified K2 template.
This application only needs users to register to submit a free event. It does not need to have ability to sell tickets, but could be a good option.

The second application is for an events venue. They have one building with many rooms which they hire out.
Again, they dont want to sell tickets to events, just setup up hiring of the rooms.
Would Matukio allow the management to setup room hire and a per half or full day basis.
Could and user that has paid for and hired the room then be able to set up their own event in the room to sell tickets?

Hey Simon,

Yep, Matukio is a pretty powerful event management software!
Now to your applications -> the first one is what matukio is build for. You can have free events... Later when you want you can make them paid etc. We support payments from paypal and other online payment systems... And it maybe is a better fit for event Management than k2.

Now the second application -> it sounds to me that you need a hotel booking software. You can of course take a hammer, hit Matukio on the left side, then hit it on the right side and you'll get something that looks like what you want, but it won't be... I would refrain from using it that way. It's not build for this.
If you send me the specs, I can give you a custom quote for developing something that fits your needs.

HAHAHA specifications, I wish!!

No real specifications, mostly all backend tasks.
Venue has 12 rooms, each can be hired on a daily basis.
Hired rooms need to be added to a calendar to show booking status such as free, reserved, booked.
Need to link to com_users for the hire and provide a view to the logged in user regarding their previous and existing bookings.
Com_users will no doubt have some extra fields associated with them.
Ability to add discounts.
Need to be able to provide price to com_user in the form of a quote, either viewable online or created as a download pdf.
Send email to com_user upon reservation or booking.
Need to provide export sales information in xls/csv format, no spec defined.
Send email reminders to user and staff X days before a booked event.
Send email reminder to user and staff X days before a reservation.
Extras such a food menus priced per person and audi/visual equipment rentals to add to quote.
Potential future need to allow online booking of rooms, with payment gateways (To be confirmed)

They plan to continue to take most bookings by email and phone, with online purchase later.
