Hi everyone,

I have been looking for something and I think Hotspots is very close to what I need...
There are a TON of Google Map integration solutions that will let you click on a Marker and display some cute thing in a box - some even with some text and pictures but what I need is:

A Google Map that can integrate in Joomla preferably via a Component (or if need be a Module) where once way points/markers/locations have been entered will allow a side module or a module below to reflect the new data associated with that location when you click on it [via AJAX]... or other way of saying this:

There is a map on the page with 3-20 markers, when you click on a marker instead of the popup appearing on the map it instead updates via Ajax a column/sidebar on the right or below the map. This sidebar would contain a little bit of text and 4-6 images per location.

What I am trying to do is very basically this: travelogic.intios.com/trips/chile-argentina/ - if you click on the ugly markers, the content changes on the right...

I know that with quite a bit of CSS work I can made the sidebar wider which will help with the images insertion - the real issue is the contact changing FROM a marker/data point being clicked which is currently not available...

Thanks everyone,

Emmanuel.

P.S.: Totally planning on buying the Pro version - just want some feedback on if it can be done and/or how soon it can be implemented and/or since it sounds like an awesome feature if the author would add it! ;)

Hey Emmanuel,
With the current hotspots version it isn't possible. you have to have the infowindows. I have plans to show the marker in the menu one day, but that is not anywhere near completion.
So, what you see on our demo page is what you are going to get with hotspots right now.
Regards,
Daniel

Hi Dimitri,

Thank you for the quick response. I'm not 100% sure though that you either understood my request or are answering it as I was asking multiple things and only 1 was answered :)

If you look at the example URL that I submitted, when you click on a Marker the column of data on the right changes ...

so:

1. can the clicking of the marker having the affect of the column of data to the right changing be turned on right now with the software.
1a. if not, can you add that as an option - it would make for a much more interactive experience - from my understanding it is just some javascript [ajax] that needs to be added.

2. is there an easier way to make the sidebar wider than hacking a bunch of the CSS ?

While I realize that this is not in your ideal interest [except in helping someone], do you know of another Map system in the form of a Joomla component/module which has the capabilities found in 1. or can mimick the feel/functionality of the url I had provided on travelogic?

Thank you so very much,
Cheers,

Emmanuel.
