I am interested in the Hotspot extension - I wonder if there is a way to use it for my project.
I need have it set so that users can indicate a location on the map for no longer than 5 minutes.
Is there a way I can use Hotspot extension for that purpose?

You'll need to ask someone to hack it. Hotspot has a field publish_down. Which indicates how long a hotspot should be published. You can make it so that when the user submits a user this field is automatically set to to +5 minutes and that way we will only show this hotspot in the next 5 mins.
