Hi Rob,

as stated in the release notes - Matukio 2.2 needs PHP 5.3 (you seem to use a older version like php 5.2 which is very outdated and has some severe security issues).

You have three alternatives:

-Update your PHP installation
-Use the old events template (only the modern one is using >php 5.3 commands), but you are going to have other errors in the backend (templates etc.)
- As a dirty work around change __DIR__ to dirname(__FILE__)

I will try to have the PHP upgraded by the systems administrator and if this is not possible, we will have to work with the previous version of Matukio.
