I tried to update to the 3.1 version from 3.0, and I got the following message:

JFolder::create: Infinite loop detected
Unable to create destination
Extracting the update package failed. Please try updating the extension manually.

I installed manually, but with the previous message, I better wait for version 3.2

I just tested it again, it works just fine.
Go to site->system information-> directory permission. Is everything writable there?

Hi Daniel,

I also tried the update and got the same message;

JFolder::create: Infinite loop detected
Unable to create destination
Extracting the update package failed. Please try updating the extension manually.

I have tried to manually update but it still tells me i am on version 3.0 and there is an update available to 3.1 so i am non of the wiser if the update worked?

Hi and good morning together,

I've installed V3.1 3h ago and installation / tool are running well.

Kind regards Torsten

EDIT: I've uploaded the module through the extensions not through the hotspots update.

@Keith, @Eliecer - can someone of you send me a mail with backend + ftp & mysql access to your sites? I'll have a look and try to figure out what is going on.

@Keith - thanks for the login. So, I just went to the extension manager -> selected the package, clicked install and it all went fine...

In matter of fact -> I installed it 3 times just to see if I'll get an error - nothing...

Eliecer, would you please download the package again? Maybe it got corrupted during download?

@Eliecer - I told you that is impossible :D
I logged into your website and went to the extension manager and it also installed without any problem.

Currently I have no idea what happened when you tried to install it. Maybe the file got corrupted during download.

I also managed to do the manual update but in the live update it still shows there is an update available, maybe this will dissapear in time!

Cheers

Keith

P.S.

I thought we were going to get cluster markers in this new update?

it must be impossible for you, but it's happening to me.

I tried in 3 different computers using firefox, internet explorer, and google chrome.

Going to Components/Hotspots/Live update, there is a message saying 'A new version is available', i click on Update to the latest version, and I am getting the error:

JFolder::create: Infinite loop detected
Unable to create destination
Extracting the update package failed. Please try updating the extension manually.

If you installed the version 3.1 on my server, why it's saying that a new version is available?

Hi Eliecer,

it seems the current version string is empty and this causes the "there is a update" problem.

@Keith -> go to dashboard->options and enable the custom tiles. You will then start to see the dots.

@Eliecer - I'll look at the live update problem and why it doesn't show that 3.1 is installed there.

I've installed 3.1 for you and you should see that version number at the bottom of the dashboard.

The first time I installed via Components/Hotspots/Live update, I got the message:

Extracting the update package failed. Please try updating the extension manually.

So, I installed manually.

I've been talking all this time about the live update problem.

Talking about problems, check this topic https://compojoom.com/forum/54-bug-report/17058-hotspots-3-1-bugs , I just found few bugs.

The liveupdate bug:
"Extracting the update package failed. Please try updating the extension manually."
is fixed. You need to refresh the update information and it will show up properly and you should be able to download it after that.

The other bug with the empty version number is also fixed. there is a new dev. release or you can just update trough live update (this will also bring the fix for the search problem and the wrong tiles from the other thread)...

Anyway - other people updating should not have this problem.
Thank you for helping me with that (Y)!
