demo.compojoom.com/dev/index.php?Itemid=497#!/catid=1 - zoom out and go to chicago usa, then zoom in - you will see lines there - this is made through KML files!
You don't have an option to draw your lines on the map, but you can for example use google earth to draw your lines, export them in KML format and upload them to the map.

As I said in my previous comment - the admin can use KML to display lines, squares, triangles heatmap overlays and whatever he sees fit.
