TOPIC: Banning Trolls & Spammers

I've got possibly just one person constantly trolling/spamming my Joomla blog and I can do nothing about it except not put all their spam posts through. How can I ban this troll via IP or whatever - this one person is ruining it for everybody else.

go to the settings. On the security tab you should see a field to enter IP addresses, enter the ip of the user and he shouldn't be able to post anymore.

So, now I've got a list of several banned IP's and they're still posting the same spam - how can I ban certain key words or links?

Are you sure that they are not changing IPs? They shouldn't be able to post if you've blocked.
Why don't you just ban their profiles from your website?

Yes indeed, this person is certainly using different IP's - and I've blocked them all now so far.

That produces another challenge because I'm trying to keep my blog open for guests. I will most likely not get near the responses if one must create an account. But, I may end up having to do it anyway.
