TOPIC: Speed up map loading

Hi and sorry if this question was already addressed on this forum, though I didn't find anything related.
I have about 300 entries on my Hotspots extension, but it takes too much time to load on the first time we load the page (or cookies deleted).
The page just stares blank until everything is loaded. After that, the speed is normal.

Is there a way of improving the loading speed?

Can I see the page? Are you loading all 300 spots at once?

Actually no... i think now it's only 50 entries [20 - upadted], or so...

Also found a strange thing on the right of the map. It seems i have some sort of vertical listing of page entries...

Since the site is not public, then don't post access credentials in a public forum

So I had a look at the site and I can't see any performance issues. I see that the google map loads at around 3s, then once loaded 2s later, we send the first request for fetching data from the database. The response takes 400ms to complete (327ms waiting and 74ms receiving)

I see that you are zooming the map on the users location. We use a web service to match the user IP to lat and long coordinates. Can you turn this thing off - is the loading of the map faster for you then?

True. No harm done, since the site will open in a beta phase in a few days. I doubt this will spread to our main audience.
I made some changes on the cache settings. I enable it to conservative settings and I think this improved a lot the speed of the page loading. That made a huge difference.
The idea is to map our national library system so that people can have a look on what libraries are closer to them, so that feature of using user location is important.

I think this is solved. I'll get back to it if I encounter any more issues.
