I have a question...

I upload to my site an image overlay with a kml file...

Is there any trick to let me have a button in frontend in order the user to be able to enable/disable kml overlays?

NO, KML is always enabled. I'm thinking a lot on a UI that will allow the user to turn on/off KML, weather api, directions etc.
