TOPIC: Organiser

Would be nice to be able to create an organiser based on username. at the moment if you have two organisers with the same name, it is impossible to see which one is which. As username is unique, it would make selection easier. The display name on the event could still be the Name field.

Hi Pete,

hmm we are using a default joomla function to get the list of users (so not our own query - JHTML::_('list.users' ..)), so we would write something like that our own. The function sadly has no parameter for using usernames instead of names.

Added it to the wishlist.

Would an easy way to get around this be to still use the display name, but in a 'read only' box on the organise page show the associated user name as you select a name. Would that be easier or same amount of work?

Do you think this could go in to Matukio?

It is a bit annoying for me - today I'm setting up an organiser and I have three people with the same name and no way of knowing who is who. Only way around this is for me to go into user manager and amend the name so I can then select the right person in create new organiser. Then I go back and amend the name back.

It isn't a major pain to do what I'm doing, but having a box displaying the email address of each organiser as you select them would fix the issue. I would have thought other people have this issue too?

yes i know this can be an issue and already have it on the wishlist. The problem is we are using a Joomla function (JHTML list.users) to get that list and it is not customizable without rewriting it completely into our extension.

There is a small workaround for you -when you inspect the element in your browser (normally right click -> Inspect Element or something like that) you see the html code of the select. And the value is the user id, maybe this is an workaround so long).
