Hi there,
i created a sub category for events, but when I choose the upper level category in frontend, the events in the sub category are not listed.
Do you have a hint how to solve this?
Best, Sabine

Hi Sabine,

this is intended this way. Subcategories are mostly treated as normal categories in Matukio, else the sql queries would get to complex.

Thank you for you quick reply. But how to manage this? If the customer chooses the main category, sub category items should be shown as well.
Do you have a suggestion?
Otherwise sub categories woudn´t make any sense.

Thank you
Sabine

Hi Sabine,

No they don't do in Matukio currently (Except some optical changes). We are using the joomla category manager which offers this feature, but we don't use it in Matukio.

thank you for your reply. Optical changes? I hope not!

So, do you have an idea how to show a list of items from more than one category on a page?
Best,
Sabine

I've just run into this same issue.

My client offers courses, and they want to be able to list all of the same course (offered as multiple events at different times and locations). But they also want a general category.

Right now they'd have to dump the general categories and just make categories with the course name in them. What we really want is to be able to do things like:
Apple Certification Classes
OS X Support Essentials: El Capitan
OS X 101+201 Bootcamp: El Capitan

And if a customer clicks on Apple Certification Classes, they see all of BOTH the subcategory classes. As it is right now, we'll have to NOT use the parent caategory in my example and just make a category for each class name.

Keep in mind we want to use the MAIN listing menu item for Matukio and not be forced to make a bunch of menu items linking to multiple categories as the Matukio side menu would then be useless.
Is there ANY way around this at all in Matukio?
