TOPIC: RSS

Hello,

I wanted to generate a mailchimp campaign using the RSS feed generated by Matukio. This will allow me to send a email to my mailchimp list with all the latest events. That is the theory anyway!

I haven't used RSS before, so maybe I mis-understand. I clicked on the RSS button on the matukio eventlist page and have been trying to create a campaign using the URL, but it always rejects the URL. Tells me the feed is not a valid url. For example: www.cyclingtouring.org/index.php?option=...&view=rss&format=raw

I have tried the same process with another component that has an RSS output option, and that works fine. Mailchimp and other RSS checkers acceptit. The difference I noticed is that it generates XML where as Matukio generates raw.

Is this something you can help with?

Hi Pete,

hmm the validator complains abaut one of the titles, but everything else is valid:

Going to build in some escaping for & sign and emails..

Thanks Yves. I remove the & from the event and it now reads the file. Although it still doesn't work properly in Mailchimp - only picks up two events from the RSS in the Mailchimp campaign. There are around 25 events on the page? Bit odd, I'll see if I can work it out.

The other thing I noticed is that the feed shows the email addresses of the organisers. Should it do this?

Managed to get it to show more events by changing the introtext for an event, but still not showing all events. Guess it hits and error in the RSS output.

Did you get chance to look at this for future releases? I have looked at this again today as I would really like to get some automated mailchimp lists going out with all the currently available events. Still not bringing through all the events and When I do the validator, it gives this error "Error -3 while decompressing data: invalid stored block lengths (Server response declares Content-Encoding: deflate; misconfigured server?)"
