Hello,

Not sure if this is possible or not, but I'll try to explain as best I can!

On my event list page I'm looking to have the large map module inserted at the top of the page as I like having a large map with the filter options. What would be cool, is for when a user selects a filter (say this week's events) the large map module updates live. Is this possible? At the moment, both the small map (at bottom of side menu) and the large map stay showing all events.

One last question; as mentioned above, I have the large map module at the top of the eventlist screen. Is there a way to increase the size and change the position of the existing (small) map at the bottom of the side menu?

Hope this makes sense!

thanks Peter

The small map gets always updated and only shows the currently listed events ;-)

So that is basically what you are looking for - you can do a template override:

docs.joomla.org/How_to_override_the_outp...rom_the_Joomla!_core

You have to move the left map to the top of the page (should be basically just a div at the top and moving the code from the left there - the map is auto width). If you need help you can just add me on Skype (yves.hoppe) and i talk you through it :-)

Thanks for the quick reply Yves, I'll give that a try later tonight.

I have now discovered why I thought the small map wasn't updating. If I use the filter by date (week, month, etc..), my search results still shows all events and the map obviously doesn't update either - it looks like the filter isn't working correctly for dates. If I filter by any other option (category, location, etc), it works fine. I'll keep looking to see if I can work out why.

Thank you for your help.
thanks Pete

Dammed if I know why it won't filter by date! Is this something you have seen happening before?

No and normally that can't be the case :O (Just tested and for me it isn't -> See matukio.compojoom.com)

The map uses the same events which are displayed (So when they are not displayed in the events list they should not be on the map), their is no own database query.

Hi Yves,

Thank you for you reply.

Sorry, I may not have explained correctly in my last post. What I have now discovered is that if I filter by dates (week, month, etc.) , the results in the main screen don't update - it still displays all events. The map mirrors that correctly, so the map is updating fine. If I click any of the other filters (category, organiser, etc...), the main results update fine and the map updates to. The issue is only with the date filter.

I'm using the latest version of the software and latest version of Joomla. I have made no updates to the software apart from some CSS custom changes, language file and the fix you gave me to over ride the eventlist view to move the map to the top of screen (thanks for that, worked perfectly!). Is it worth just re-installing the your software?

If you need to take a look, let me know and I'll email you details. Site is in DEV, so just need to copy to live site and give you logon access to admin.

thanks

Pete

Hi Pete,

before you copy the site over - did you set stop displaying event to never? If yes then that's the reason the date filter is not working (This combination is not working)

Old events can always displayed with the event date filter, the setting only sets that the all events / dates including old ones are shown by default (you probably don't want that, only for archives).

Genius! That worked.

My thinking around having that set was to show new users previous events to get an idea what has happened in the past. Didn't realise there was a old events options in there, which gives me what I want.

Thank you for your help. Great support and knowledge of your product as normal.

Have good day. Pete.
