I really can't see the meaning of the QR codes in the printed lists unless all participants are exported to another system (don't know which). There is probably a huge potential in using this in large events. I have an idea I hope could be considered:

If the organizer prints out some cards for the participants and they carry them at the event, they could be scanned by a barcode scanner and automatically be registered in Matukio as attended. Letting participants sign on the printed list is good enough for small events but not really an option for larger events. If there could be some kind of system in the backend of Matukio to verify the appearance of participants either by enter their ID, checking them in the list or best of all scanning them if would be awful!

Turning an option on in the backend and just scanning and scanning and scanning, and in the end have a complete list of who appeared at the event and who did not. I dream!!

What do you say?

Doing some more research I have found the QR code from Matukio only generates the encoded id. For a start, could it be possible to configure which fields to use when generating the QR code? If all available fields from the booking could be put into the QR code if is very easy to collect data from an QR scanner on the smartphone. I just tested a free app on my Android phone (Barcode QR Scanner) and it can collect codes in bulk scan mode and then export the collected data to a spreadsheet.

I made some QR codes and scanned and I got a comma separated file to import to Excel. If Matukio could import and compare such a list to a participant list and mark those who had attended the event it would be nice.

A row in the list with options attended/not attended is a start. Attending an event and manually register is quite normal. If the staff/organizer could check participants in manually this way if is a better solution compared to signing a list. Scanning/importing is even better!

That is actually the plan for these qrcodes, because of this they contain the booking id.. working on a solution to sign them in when they are scanned by logged in organizers (unique through uuid & task=sign in url), so the qr codes are going to contain a URL in the near feature - if a participant scans them they are redirected to their bookings page with their details, when the organizer scans it they are booked in.

Best regards

Yves
