Hello everyone.

I'm using JoomlaComment 4.0 beta2, on Joomla version 1..5.8, MySQL version 5.0.45, PHP Version 5.2.12

I have been searching the Joomla forum and Google, including Google's webmaster tools to try and learn how to make the url's from my blog's commenters DoFollow instead of NoFollow. I don't know if it is a change I need to make to the htaccess file, create a robots.txt file, or if it is something that can be done through JoomlaComment, or if there's a Joomla extension for this. Or if it is something completely different.
Please keep in mind, I'm using Joomla because of how user friendly it is. I'm not even close to a computer expert, so please, explain it as clearly and as simple as possible.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

hey Aaron,
Joomlacomment sets the nofollow tag because there are people out there that will comment in your blog only to promote their own webpage.
However if you wish to turn the nofollow tag you will have to edit the comment.class.php file
componnets/com_comment/joscomment/comment.class.php

search for nofollow and delete this tag.

Hi there!

I searched for the file componnets/com_comment/joscomment/comment.class.php and couldnt find it. My version is 4.1.7, is there a difference for this version?

Thanks

hey George,
In compojoom comment go to:
components/com_comment/classes/joomlacomment/JOSC_post.php
and
components/com_comment/classes/joomlacomment/JOSC_ubbcode.php

Search for no follow in those 2 files.

The first one will handle how the website that you enter in the title is displayed and the second one does the url transformation when you use the ubbcode for this.
Cheers,
Daniel

Hi.

I currently have version 4.0 of Joomlacomment installed on my site.

I removed the "no follow" tag from the file as described below a few months ago, and now I would like to put it back but I no longer have the original file.

Can you help me find the line I need to replace? I know it's a simple change, but I'm not a programmer and I don't want to mess it up. :)

Thanks!

Stephanie

@Stefanie - why don't you download joomlacomment 4.0 from the download section and compare the comment.class.php file.
