TOPIC: Comments have disappeared since changing my URL

Hi,

I have made changes to the layout of my website and changed a SEF url(and re-directed it) but since then the previous comments are not showing on the page. (I also changed the name of the category).

I am using Joomla 1.5.14, Yootheme Template Shuffle and JoComment 4.0 alpha3

Could anyone advise me on how I can move the old comments on to my new page?

That is a strange problem. So if you turn off the SEF then you see the comments???

Also could you update to beta2?

thanks for your reply. Actually no, if I turn off SH404 the problem still exists. It worked fine before I made the changes to this page which included a change in the page URL.

Any ideas?

well, the component needs and id to work, but I think that 404sef is doing this internally - there are a lot of users that use this extension together with joomlacomment.

Try perhaps to update.

What is with the new comments? do they display? I tried to post a comment but it was inserted for review.

Hi, yes the new comments work fine - I received yours and published.

It's just all my previous comments that are not being displayed.

Could you look at the database??? How are the new comments different than the old ones?

had a look at the database - joscomment and the strange thing is no entries are showing from today -or the past few days since this problem began and I upgraded SH404.

Any ideas??

It must be saved somewhere. Find where!

I have checked in every table on my database and I can't find the missing comments. I don't have much understanding of mysql, where else could I look?

they must be in the database. There is no other place where they could be saved. But I also believe that the comments are in jos_comment. Did you check all pages in the table?

Hi,

I'm an idiot! I was looking at the wrong database! I created a test site when upgrading sh404 and had not changed the database config file when transferring live!

The difference between the ones displayed today and previous is the ID, when I change them to my new page ID it solves the problem.
