TOPIC: is it possible to allow users to add url links?

I know users can add links by clicking a few buttons and adding the link but is it possible to adjust the setting so the software reads the link as a link without users doing anything?

for example i copied this link and pasted it into the text... this link is now active but on my website it would only be text? im not very experienced so this may be a silly question!

It's not a silly question, it makes perfect sense

But no it is not possible right now. But it would be a good option to have. I actually thought about this a while ago, actually, what I was thinking was to also automatically-shorten URL's with tinyurl or a similar service. We could have a new option and call it "Auto Link" with three options - 'None', 'Standard' or 'Yes and Shortened'.



This would should be very easy to do, and we should be able to add it to the next release. I've added it to the tracker here .

ok ill look for the update! thanks for your reply... for some reason our users post a ton of links but almost none of them hit the buttons first. i think they are used to links being auto detected, like in this site.
