TOPIC: Captcha does not appear : (

hi everybody,

!JoomlaComment is working properly on my J! 1.0.x but I can't see the captcha image...

the server has:
GD Support enabled
GD Version bundled (2.0.28 compatible)
FreeType Support enabled
FreeType Linkage with freetype
T1Lib Support enabled
GIF Read Support enabled
GIF Create Support enabled
JPG Support enabled
PNG Support enabled
WBMP Support enabled
XBM Support enabled

what should I do?

Answer #1 (Something you'll have to wait for): Wait for Daniel to help, he's the developer and the only one who can help with the older version.

Answer #2 (Something you can do now): Update to Joomla 1.5 and JoomlaComment 4

EDIT: You also need the ability for FreeType/GDLib or whatever to create PNG's. Maybe you can investigate that while you wait for the master

uhm, update to j! 1.5 is in my plans but I have not enought technical skills and time...
settings on my server are the ones I copied, no idea on where to check if png's creation is 'on'.
I'll wait for daniel, sure he has the answer ; )

Oh yes of course - updating from 1.0 to 1.5 is something not to be taken lightly - it's understandable.

Well he might just say the same thing as me Plus i'm not sure how long Daniel will be, it could be days... you could try asking on your Webhosts' Forums if other users have a similar thing and if it works. Something along the lines of "Do any webmasters here have PHP scripts that generate PNG files via the GD and Freetype library (for example, custom Captcha code) because i'm having trouble with this and still waiting for support from the developers of the PHP script in regard and thought i'd check if the servers are capable of it".

It's worth a try if you're bored But if you don't mind waiting then of course just ignore me haha

It doesn't matter if you use 1.0 or 1.5 - the reasons why the image is not loading are always the same.

Please the first thing you should do is search the forum. There 100 of threads with the same problem and always the same solution - gd, freetype, file permissions.

A thing of great help will be to look at the error log and see what errors are saved there.

Ah OK, i'll remember that one. I just assume that it's easier for you/us to bugfix for Joomla 1.5 is all
