Hello

I've installed your !JoomlaComment component, and before publishing it I want to import comments from another comment component. The only problem is, I don't understand the import mapping selections I need to do.

The comment component I want to import from is the EasyComment component from www.easy-joomla.org (NB: Not the component with the same name from www.joomla-addons.org ). Unfortunately this component is not listed as a "standard comment system component", so I'll have to select table and columns. And this is the problem, I don't understand what is meant...

I do guess that "Import from table" should be "jos_easycomments" as that's the only choice that seems to make sence. However, I have no clue weither I should choose "com_content" or otherwise in the next drop down curtain. And "Id from the column" and "Content Id from the column" is alien language for me.

Someone out there who can guide me? I am sure it is easy, it's just that I obviousely don't understand the concept.

Ok, when you select the jos_easycomments the page reloads and the next drop down menus have the fields that you have in your jos_easycomments table.
jocomment id - choose the id in jos_easycomments that correspond to id
Date from the column - choose the date colomn of easycomment .

That is the whole idea you get it?
You have 2 tables with nearly the same structure. So you have to map them together - show !jocomment how to interpret your component table.

Ehm... No... I'm sorry, but I don't understand "table" and "column" in this context. I mean, I do understand it has something to do with database, or so I at least think. But I have no clue where to find the correct info so that I choose right alternatives in the drop down curtains. I've gone through my Joomla backend (/administrator), and I can't find anything there. Should I go somewhere outside Joomla to find it?

ok, short example:
you have the table jos_comment:
it has following columns
id - that is the unique number every comment has
author - the autor of the comment
comment - the text of the comment
date - when the comment was posted

So all you have to find which columns in jos_easycomment are doing the same things and give them to !jocomment.
Clear now?
