TOPIC: HELP.. Comments cannot be seen to unregistered users!!!

Hello all,

My comments cannot be seen to unregistered users, only when users registered then the comments appear. But to all guest/unregistered users, comments cannot be seen, it says "no comments".

How do I configure if I want all users whether registered or not to see the comments?

That sounds strange to me.
In the backend under extensions->joomlacomemnt->content settigns->security you have an option to choose if only registered users can post comments, but this option has nothing to do with who is able to see the comments.

Do you have any custom extension that plays with the ACL?

Yes I know that is very strange..
I'm sorry I dont understand what is ACL.
To be very clear, can you help me out by try login to my website?
Try it and you will see what i mean.

Sorry for publishing username and pass in forum.

and here is how you get to that link in case the link doesn't work:
1. login with user and pass i gave you.
2. in member menu on left side, click on give testimonial menu.
3. that is where users give testimonials, wait for admin approval, and it will be displayed.
4. only and when only after login then will that user able to see comments posted.
5. try log out and you will not see any comments posted.
6. try login again, and that comments will appear, whualaaaa... this confuses me since it only shows up after user login.

Hope this is clear and hope you spot my mistakes.

I don't understand you and I have the feeling that you don't understand joomla.

You've made a menu that is visible only to registered users.
If I try to go to the link you gave me I get:
403 - You are not authorised to view this resource.

When I log in - I see the comments - that is normal and has nothing to do with joomlacomment but with joomla.

The menu you've made is only for registered users and it is normal that a user should be registered to view the article and comments.

The menu you've made is only for registered users and it is normal that a user should be registered to view the article and comments.

If you have comments on an article that is in a section, category or menu item only visible to registered users, its impossible for unregistered users to see them comments. That's the way Joomla and pretty much any CMS works, otherwise it'd be a security flaw.

Make the article category/section/menu visible to all users and that will make the comments inside it visible to all users

Yea, and then you can set the option in the backend:
only registered users: yes

This will forbid posting from unregistered users.

Glad you sorted it

Daniel is planning on re-working the entire extension soon, it needs to be re-written and organised internally (component class files mainly). I hope Daniel and I will also work together on completely re-designing the backend structure to make it a bit easier to use.

For that reason, it's actually pretty important that people report these problems. They are having trouble configuring just because they don't know how, we are glad to help out and provide details because it helps the future of the extension!

Hopefully soon we can get some sort of a Knowledge Base and/or F.A.Q. up for JoomlaComment too!
