Hi

I am indeed a newbie and I'm sure this is a silly question. I have JoomlaComment3.12 installed on my site:

vacuum-cleaner-advisor.com/

Users can comment on articles using JoomlaComment which prompts them for Name, Website and Title before they add their comments. I am finding many folks are adding garbage comments just so they can enter their website links.

How can I turn off this website field? I do not want to be asking the user to enter their website but I can't figure out how to turn the field off.

I hope someone can set me straight here.

thanks so much
Emily

Hi Daniel

Thanks for the information and I have watched the video. Will this also work for version 3.12 that I have installed?

Hi Emily,
To be honest I don't know :) I took the project when it was on version 3.25 . Try it and let me know. (also an update to version 3.26 is super easy :))

Ok - I managed to do this for 3.12. It is similar to what is in the video it is just that some of the menu options have changed. Ultimately you get an html tab and you can go in and edit the code.

Btw - I also note an outbound link to "JoomlaComment 3.12" on all pages with the Comment box on the bottom (which is most of my pages). This link sits in bright blue below all comment boxes. I like the product but am not too keen on having outbound links on all of my pages - I would like to add a nofollow tag here (but I will keep the link). I have tried very hard to find this link in the code but cannot. Any idea how I can add the tag?

thanks
emily

hey ghali, what is so interesting :)

emily, sorry for my bad answer. If you want to add a nofollow tag, open comment.class.php and find the code that is creating the link and add the tag there.
