Hi!

I've installed JoomlaComment 4.0 alpha3 with akostyle template in a Joomla 1.5.9 site. Everything works like a charm but I've found a little problem: when I modify a comment (edit a post) changed text is not showing until I reload the page. There's no problem when I create a new comment, so I think maybe would be possible have the edif/modify function working in the same way... Any idea?
I understand that's not a big deal for most users but I run a support site for my teenagers students and they're not exactly the smartest users one can hope :S
TIA,

Iggy

Hm, that sounds strange to me. I tried editing few comments in the demo section and it works without refresh.

Perhaps you are getting some javascript errors on your page?

Sorry to be late but I was out Saturday.
I think you get it: usually, I use Chrome but I don't know how to setup it to show error messages, so I run a test with IE and get this message exactly after click at edit button to send the modify text:

Line:855
Char:5
Error:'getElementsByTagName(...).0' isnull or not an object
Code:0

Make any sense?

Thanks for your answer (boy, you are fast :woohoo: ). I'm impressed with Joomlacomment and really apreciate your help.

Regards,

Iggy

I just made a test with akostyle and it works fine for me. Did you make any changes to the template file? Chnaging classes or so?

Would you give me a link to your website? I would like to examine it for more info.

Yes, I've made little changes in template... I was cautioun but I'll check to see if I erase any important function before return to you, ok?

[Edited after test. See next message]

My site is in Portuguese; sorry, no English version. I could tell you more about for what I'm using Joomlacomment, but I don't want to take your time too much.

Thanks,

Iggy

I think the error could be caused for more complex interaction. I review my work and nothing looks like cause this strange behaviour and I tested with original template files also, just to be sure, and get the same malfunction.
Then I login as a student and found the problem is not a problem at all because edit buttons are not showing :woohoo: That's great news for me because I really don't want students changing their posts (it's a competition). But this reminds me I'm using noixACL to controll group access - maybe there is some kind of conflict. Could be?

Anyway, I think I must run a better test with all my specific setup in mind. I'll make a fresh install, no costumization and try with different template, public access, English language (I'm using costumised Portuguese translation), different user type, etc.

I think I should give you more information and I apologise for take your time. I'll return to you after make my homework and tell you my results, ok?

I still have some questions about Joomlacomment but first things first, right?

Thanks for you support. Regards,

Iggy

If you have deleted or changed the names of some css classes this could be the reason why editing is not working.

Hum... I don't think so. I've made my changes in my custom template and css ( myakostyle) and the problem exist even if I use standart akostyle template, which I didn't touch. In fact, I've made a rush test with default template and the result was the same.

Just to be clear: the edit button works ok - I mean, changes are saved; it's just that after save changes there's no refresh, so the new text don't show if I dont reload the page. I'll run more tests and return to you, ok?

Cheers,

Iggy
