Hi,

We've been using !joomlacomment for about a year with few problems. However, about a week ago, the "Manage Comments" page stopped working.

When you click on "Manage Comments" in the administration panel, all you get is a blank page ( www.site.com/administrator/index2.php?op...omment&task=comments ).

The other administrative pages, "Content Settings," "Other component settings," "Import Comments," and "About" seem to be working just fine, and comments on the site are still being received. We just have no way to get in there and approve/moderate them.

I tried upgrading from !joomlacomment version 3.25 to 3.26, but it made absolutely no difference towards resolving the problem. Tweaking the settings on the "Content Settings" page has likewise made zero difference.

As far as we know, we did nothing to trigger the problem. We did recently install a new component, AdsManager, but we believe that was days before we started having problems with comments. However, there are two of us that work on the Web site, and neither of us are particularly tech-savvy.

Any help or ideas on how we can fix the problem would be greatly appreciated.

If it's helpful, we're running Joomla version 1.0.15.

It seems for me that you have exactly the same problem as here:
compojoom.com/forum.html?func=view&catid...d=2892&start=10#3760

Please do the following to reproduce:
1. MAKE A FULL DATABASE BACKUP (or only to the joomla comment tables) - as you wish.

2. Open the jos_comments table and delete all entries.

3. Go to the backend and check if manage comments is working - the page should load without any comment.s

If it does - I would be happy to get a copy of you comments tables so I can start looking what is causing the problem. Or perhaps it is just a corrupted table and needs to be repaired?

I'm afraid I have to ask a stupid question: where can I find the joomla comment tables?

Thanks so much for the help!

Use phpmyadmin to look at your database.

The joomlacomment tables start with jos_comment.

It's fixed!

After messing around with the comments in myphpadmin, I was able to get things working again.

There was this really long comment that had bold formatting tags on it ([ b ] and [ /b ] - though they were formatted correctly. I spaced them out just for this post so I wouldn't bold my own comment. :D ).

Anyway, when I deleted those bold tags, the Manage Comments screen started working again. I'm not sure what it was exactly about that comment in particular that screwed things up; I can't seem to replicate the crash with another comment. However, it did have a great deal of unorthodox formatting.

Thanks for your help!

Well, I would, but I have no idea how to do that. Whenever I try to download the tables, I only get a fragment of them.

Hm, a fragment?
What are you doing? Do you use phpmyadmin to download them?
you go to export and select the tables you want to export or what?
