I get this error when installing 4.0:

Error Loading ModulesMySQL server has gone away SQL=SELECT id, title, module, position, content, showtitle, control, params FROM jos_modules AS m LEFT JOIN jos_modules_menu AS mm ON mm.moduleid = m.id WHERE m.published = 1 AND m.access <= 2 AND m.client_id = 1 ORDER BY position, ordering

Not sure if this is anything serious or not, so far everything seems to be working fine on the front end and back end. Just checking to see if anyone has any input on this?

much appreciated!

I have no idea why you get the above error message, but as far I can say - you are not alone!

Try to start the query directly in phpmyadmin and see what the result would be.

I haven't had this error, but there is a patch talking about "database has gone away" problem, if it's any help, here:

http://remository.com/downloads/joomla-software/db-interfaces-for-joomla-1.5.x/ - This is a replacement of two Joomla 1.5.x core files and its purpose is to deal with a problem that is not adequately handled by Joomla. Specifically, depending on what optimizations have been done, it is quite possible for the database connection to be lost if request handling takes some significant time. The error that results is not a hard error, and should be handled by reconnecting to the database. Joomla does not do this, and components cannot do it for Joomla without poking around in database credentials that should not (in principle) be accessible outside the core. Even if they could, it is a problem that logically belongs in the CMS.
