Hm, Jonus if you wish and if you have time you can make the same template as jomcomment has :)

Yeah, I could make one similar but better ;) Also, the logo for their website - it's similar to a design I have for a Windows "Power tweak tool" software i've been working on. It's purely coincedence, but i'm going to grudge against them for it

Steven Arnold,

Are you still around? I just re-read this thread. Do you mean you'd like a Template that has a 'Write Comment' at the end of the Article, then when clicking it a lightbox style DHTML popup appears with all the Commenting stuff?

That'd be cool. Personally I hate them because you can't scroll-around the page and refer to the original article or other comments without closing your comment, but they are nice for simple and "fun" websites. Facebook does it for some things, for example.

There has GOT to be a better way to do this. The workarounds for this issue are unacceptable. Everything works great and this is a wonderful program, but this issue of the fully open comment box on an Article page is ludicrous. Will this ever be fixed? :woohoo:

There is no problem to be fixed. Well, I'm sorry to say this - but there really isn't a problem to fix. What you need is a new template. A templaet that is shown after you click write comment - that is all.

I don't think that it is from such importance, but if more people start showing up saying that they want this, then we should write something and release it in the marketplace

As Daniel said, it's not a bug. But nothing is stopping you or anyone else from creating their own Template with JavaScript to 'hide' the form by default. Heck, create a good enough template and Daniel can even help sell it for you! Daniel is very occupied with his studies and in his spare time the Beta development/bugfixing of the extension, I am working on several new templates with advanced features such as these but I also have real-life things to worry about which, unfortunately, have become increasingly demanding since I've joined the Compojoom Forums here.

I'd be more likely to work harder on these templates if someone had some ideas for me, I was thinking about starting a thread to get some feedback and probably will do this soon. It'll also provide a chance for a user to recommend 'inspirations' for some new designs (try to get a sneaky favour on a new template to suit your site).

Hi, sorry I didn't get back to you but I lost my password. What I'm saying and I think others are saying also is that the Comments box doesn't need to be open by default on the article page. It can look ridiculous especially when the article is only an inch or two tall. Most people don't need to see it anyway.

I don't get the programming issue but one approach would be the same kind of link in article layout view that you have in blog/category view. Then, that link takes you to the full layout view of the comment component.

When I originally made this post, I didn't realize that some of the templates do this already, especially the one which has two sliding parts. Still, from an aesthetic point of view, I would prefer the comment box be closed by default, not open.

Congratulations on a great comment system. I suggest a built-in mini-styler which allows the user to plug in four or five colors (text and background) to match the template. Thanks so much!

Im newbe both for !joomcomments and joomla itself. I also dont like comment box appear in the single article layout (after clicking "read more...") and would rather to have link there which opens the box. I don't understand if i have to change template of my whole site, or only joomlacomment CSS. Where can i find such a template or CSS? My verison of !JC is 4.0 RC1.

Hi Pawel,

If you go to the backendd of !JoomlaComment -> Content Settings -> 'Layout' tab, you will see that modern is selected but it is the only choice. I am still working on making a sliding comment form version that actually works on all web browsers properly (IE7/IE8/O10/F3/S4).
