TOPIC: Captched not Showing

Oh dear, its that old problem again, I see lots of unresolved posts about this.
In my case I have checked;
GD support - enabled
freetype - ver 2.2.1
captcha.php permission - 0644
captcha image permissions - 0644
www.theshowershop.org
any help gratefully received.

First - I find this unfair! There are not "lots of unresolved posts". There are no unresolved posts
(normally a user post a problem, we solve it, then another one comes and reopen the thread)

Are folder permissions 755??

Let me appologise, I did not mean to offend, I very much appreciate your effort and commitment to this project. Without people like you the Joomla community would be a poorer place!

Perhaps what I should have said was, there appears to be quite a few joomies asking for guidance on this issue without a clear outcome.

In my case the frontpage contains a commentable article.

Are all folders set to 755?

folders set to 0755.

What is the error log saying?

The only server error that might relate to this problem is this:

SoftException in Application.cpp:544: Directory "/home/buzcards/public_html/theshowershop.org/components" is writeable by group, referer: theshowershop.org/the-news/7-welcome.html

could this be the cause?

Would you turn off friendly urls and tell me what the result is?
