look in the server control panel. You should have something like cpanel or ispconfig?

Ops, I think that is it:

Tue Apr 14 04:22:04 2009] [error] [client ***] File does not exist: /home/ilucato/bemdoado/500.shtml
[Tue Apr 14 04:22:04 2009] [error] [client ***] SoftException in Application.cpp:544: Directory "/home/ilucato/bemdoado/components" is writeable by group

change the permissions of the component folder. Try with 775 or with 755.

Which folder should I change these permissions attributes? I mean, is it just on com_comment, joscomment or only on captcha folder?

Well, I've changed these 3 folders above to 775 and the issue is still there. No security image showing. Can I set them back to 755 or should I leave them as 775?

your web root folder - 775
components - 775
com_comment - 775
joscomment - 755
captcha - 755

files in the captcha folder - 644

captcha - 644

Now by setting the main root as 775 (my web roo folder) I don't get to access the site and I get the same webserver error as before.. folder x "is writeable by group.". It seems something doesn't allow folder set as writeable by group.

[Tue Apr 14 05:00:54 2009] [error] [client ***.**.***.**] File does not exist: /home/ilucato/bemdoado/500.shtml
[Tue Apr 14 05:00:54 2009] [error] [client ***.**.***.**] SoftException in Application.cpp:544: Directory "/home/ilucato/bemdoado" is writeable by group

I have followed all your settings:

your web root folder - 775
components - 775
com_comment - 775
joscomment - 755
captcha - 755

files in the captcha folder - 644

captcha.php - 644

By putting back just the settings of "your web root folder" as 755, I get to access the site, but the issue still remains. No security image showing even with these settings below:
components - 775
com_comment - 775
joscomment - 755
captcha - 755
files in the captcha folder - 644
captcha.php - 644

Prety weird, uh? Mistery. :0)

Can I put all settings back how they were?

yep, but would you try the following.
Your server is complaining when the folder the script is in is writable by the group. SO change the permissions to 755 for these folders.

I'm pretty sure that your problem is coming from permissions settings. We have to play with them to find the right value for your configuration.

Great Daniel it worked! I've played with some configurations with them and in sum the issue was on the "Components" folder. It was set as 777. The 775 doesn't work too. SO, in my case the COMPONENTS folder needs to be set as 755 to show up the security image. Now just a doubt Daniel. By setting this main COMPONENTS folder as it, won't it mess with the other components I've installed?

Thanks a lot for your "live" support. :0) I appreciated that. Have an amazing day.

Hey Daniel, I'll check this out later to check what is new in the 4.0 and what you're talking about ad network stuff.

Thanks again for your kind attention and I wish you a lot of success.

A hug.
Lucato.

P.S. I think I'll see you soon, in the next thread "write comment link in one line". :0)

Well, this thread is SOLVED, at least for me. ;0)

you can speak with your hosting support to enable the freetype library. It is not such a problem for the most of them.

Sorry I have a problem with the security image issue. It just gives me a link and no image. I went into FTP and changed the file property settings to

755 on the com_comments
644 on the captcha folder

but it still isnt working. On the captcha folder it seems to keep reverting back to 744 not 644. Have I done something wrong?

Either the GD or the freetype library is missing for you. Check your php info in the backend of joomla to determine if you have GD and freetype and then ask your server administrator to install the missing part.
