From the screenshot it looks like 2 is the main comment and 3 and 1 are both nested under 2. if you click the reply button on number 3 - then you are going to get a nested comment under 3. i want to reply to comment number 1 comment but reply doesnt appear ! ...just try send a reply (in my language odpovedat Ответить - in russian)
attachment is showing that number 1 is nested comment for number 2 but if i want send reply for number 1 nothing happened so only way to send a comment is send reply to number 2 to appear number 3 but it isnt a nested comment for number 1

Wow, 2020 comments for a single article! Respect!!!

About the nested comments - that is really an interesting problem. The comments seems to be published, but I wonder where do they end up shown...

Could you perhaps make a dump of the jos_comment tables and send them to me This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ?

Then I can try to debug a little bit more and perhaps find what is wrong.

ill send jos_comment now

how i install comments:
I install from package from ftp, because everything didnt work (ways of install, manual way too). I took my old comments from table, i put in compojoomcomment 4.1.8 , sql - UPDATE jos_comment SET component = 'com_content' WHERE component = '';
and i can see older comments ( other ways how to get old comment from !joomcomment to compojoomcomment didnt show me my comment in component at administrator)
But: i have problem with nested comments and that captcha too...as you see i turned it off, i open and save setting and nothing..but save my nested comments

P.S: there was 5500+ comments but my webhosting have problems with mysql

so, I've imported your dump into my local database. I've also managed to post several nested comments - look at the screenshot.
From what I saw and from what you are saying it seems that something went wrong with your update. Please send me a mail with super admin access + ftp credentials - I'll try to install the component myself. (also make a backup before you give me the credentials

)

i've entered test as a comment, so the content of comment_content should be also test and not the thing that I see..

It was a small bug in the way nested comments were shown when you have selected order by latest first. The fix will be included in the next release. Dekari, go to your backend and change the way the comments are ordered - from latest to newest. This should show all comments.

Our svn server is broken right now and I'm unable to tell you which line you have to change. Once we recover it I can tell you what to do and you can still show the newest comments first.

i've changed the order but still not all comments shown!
my option are:

Structure
=========
Allow nested comments =yes
Only moderators = NO
Comments sorting (if NOT nested comments): New Entries Last

maybe should i provide you user/pass to take a look? OR send you my dump file for the jos_comment?
please this is URGENT i've my client's new site on hold due to this matter!!!

i solved the issue on my own... changed the id's of import to be the same as the records where in jos_jcomments...

seems tha the "LATEST" is by ID not BY DATETIME!!!

I didn't really understand your solution, but the solution to the problem of vavslovakia is to change line 254 in :
components/com_comment/classes/joomlacomment/JOSC_visual.php

from

$database->SetQuery($queryselect.$queryfrom.$querychildren.$queryorder);

to

$database->SetQuery($queryselect.$queryfrom.$querychildren."\n ORDER BY id ASC");

Hi,

I think a had a similar problem. I imported comments from K2 and the id numbers are running "backwards". The oldest comment had the biggest id number.

My customer wanted the comments to run threaded and from oldest to newest (from top down). After setting the comments sorting to "New entries last" the comments were organized correctly but the threaded comments were still "New entries first".

I changed the /components/com_comment/models/comment.php a bit and now the comments and threaded comments seem to follow my "New entries last" setting.
(Actually I also had to change the order to "New entries first" which is basically the opposite I wanted)

Here what I changed. Just before the line
// Don't change the ordering here - otherwise nested comments won't be sorted right
I changed the "$query->order('id ASC');" to " $query->order('id DESC');"

I'm not a coder, so I have no idea why this works. Daniel could you comment on this and tell is my solution good or if there's something I might have left unnoticed?
