Can you change to default joomla theme and test if it works then. We don't require jquery, so we should not cause this js issue.

Thanks so much for your speedy reply.
I tried the default Joomla template it works. When I click the newsletter check box I see more fields are then revealed so that makes sense as to why it was asking for fields to be completed.
Ive switched back to our template and when you click that box it doesnt reveal the fields so I looked at the theme features and found an iCheck plugin that styles check boxes and disabled that and it now works
So is this how it works? does the user have to fill out yet another email and name field as well our field sin our reg form? or am i missing something....
Also can you confirm that if a user once registered then changes their email address on either joomla or mailchimp it will synch both ways?

UPDATE: I removed the email and name fields from the two CMC plugins and just tried and it subscribed the user fine but only with an email address.

Is there any way for it to grab the NAME from the NAME field in Jom social/Joomla during regsitration?

Yea, we currently we can only grab the email. With a future update we might add an option to use the email out of the form, or to map jomsocial fields to the newsletter fieds. So the user will have to select them just once.
