Hmm... You tell us you have a brand-new, fresh and unmoddified Joomla install with nothing except JoomlaComment, but Daniel had to ask you to remove payperpost code soooo.... I don't want to sound rude, honestly, but can you make sure you have nothing else installed? Double check? Triple check?

Have you modified your .htaccess file? Try deleting it and restoring the Joomla default.

Which web browser are you using? Try installing a fresh copy of Chrome, Opera or Firefox and testing it again.

I discovered you're with BlueHost - are you installing Joomla via the Fantastico script? Or manually? Try doing it manually if you have not, and to verify you have 100% correct permissions make sure you enable and configure the FTP Layer feature at the Joomla installation. In the meantime verify your dir/file permissions are 755/644 (having 777 on anything will break Joomla).

Jonus, you will see by the thread that after some troubleshooting with Daniel on my original site I installed a fresh joomla install into a new directory for testing. The payperpost code that he asked me to remove was on the original site, not the new one.

I will continue to work with daniel on this issue. I have given him an administrative log in to my site, and he has double and triple checked everything. We did a lot of troubleshooting offline from this thread, so catching up here would take a while.

Thanks for your input.

Did you resolve the problem? I'm still getting the error message and am looking for solutions. I'm not the most tech savvy of people, so some of the jargon has gotten me a bit lost.

I also am still getting the error message. I have a few more things to try. Can you tell me what PHP version you are running?

This afternoon, I have tried the following:

-zip up jml03 directory and export jml03 DB to move to another server. The problem persisted on other servers.

-manual install of joomla rather than using bluehost's simplescript for install. With just sample data and joomlacomment, the problem still exists.

At this point I am starting to think the problem lies within the mysql instance running. Tomorrow I am going to reverse these test, and build a new instance on another server where joomlacomment works, and zip/export it into my bluehost account to see if it continues to work. If so, I would tend to think that the problem lies in the DB / table creation on the server.

Here is the status from yesterday.
I installed your jml03 on my localhost. For first time ever joomlacomment was not working on localhost for me.
After 1h debugging I couldn't find anything that is wrong. Everything seems fine.
Then I uninstalled and installed again. Oh miracle - joomlacomment started working then.

What I would suggest is to unable the ftp layer and try installing again.

My comments are working... after trying several things this morning with no success, I re-downloaded the Joomlacomment install package, and that did the trick. I use a file compare utility called beyond compare that does a binary level comparison, and there are no differences in the package that I had, and the one I downloaded today, so I have no idea what the problem was. Especially seeing as I used that package to install comment onto another site with success.

Thanks for your patience and help Daniel.

your configuration.php is not writable. Change the permissions of the file and then try again to enable the layer.

As Scott says, there is something strange that happens while installing. The files are the same, but they don't function properly. Uninstall and install again.

I had uninstalled, and reinstalled several times. The final solution for me was to download a new copy of the extension. Try to download the extension from the download section again and then reinstall.

Amaresh, please read what the other people write.

Perhaps downloading a new copy will solve your problem.

Has anyone tried installing via FTP path rather than uploading the ZIP? These problems don't make sense... it has to be a permissions issue.

Hey Joel,
I saw the same thing with firefox, but it all doesn't make sense. There are no errors or whatever. The files are the same as the original one. Somehow an empty line comes there and that brakes the functionality.

Hi Daniel,

I´m having the same issue... When i post a comment, i get the "request failed" message and the comment shows up if reload the page....

I tried to re-download it from the site and re-install it... Tested on localhost but it didnt work...

I tested with the 4 beta 1 version and it works OK... It doesn´t show any problem, the older version...

I guess that something is wrong or changed in the newest version 4 beta 2...

here´s a link to my site: its in brazilian portuguese...

My website

I considering going back to version beta 1... any sugestions?
