Enable the plugin, check which section and categories are selected for comments and so on.

I'm afraid I have the same problem. Does the component use a particular 'user postion' to display, or is it hooked to the article?

Also, I did get some warnings on my install, perhaps this has something to do with it? The component is there, and configurable, but I got the following warnings on install

There was a problem with your installation

error when moving /home/mwoodwar/public_html/administrator/components/com_comment/plugin/joscomment.php
TO /home/mwoodwar/public_html/plugins/content/joscomment.php
Please, contact the support.
Thanks.

The warning are telling you that you don't have the necessary write permission on your system to move the files.
Find the files in the zip package and move them with your ftp programm to the directories in the error message.

theseal can I get super admin access to your web site?

Thanks Daniel, that seems to have done the trick. Just for your information though...the directories in question had all the necessary rights...so am not sure if there's an installation issue or not, but it's up and running...and I appreciate it.

Well, I'm close but no cigar yet. After copying the files you suggested, I got the link to post a comment. When I do though, the comment appears as I would expect, but the 'editor box' never goes away? It's almost like the 'post comment' is being invoked again, or not dismissed when the comment is posted. I'll attach a screen grab.

Thanks

ps: I was using the RSD module for remote posting via moveabletype api, and that throws an error when trying to post a comment. I just disabled that plugin so that I can get comments working, but thought you should know,

That is interesting. Could you notify the creators of that extension about the incompatibility?

Will do, any luck figuring out why the 'enter comment' box is not being dismissed after posting?

Dismissed? When you post the comment the view will be fixed to the your comment - dismissing is not something we support.

Poorly worded perhaps, but if you look at the screen grab (couple of posts ago), what I mean is that the comment editing box remains open at the bottom of the article, and the only way I can get it gone is to delete the article? Do you mean that the large editing window stays open after the comment has been submitted?

ah what? I really don't understand you.
You have the editing box open - you post the comment, then the editing box is empty and you can write the next comment. What is wrong with that?

Let me try what Jen suggested, maybe if I logout the edit box will disappear. In general however, once I make a comment on a post...I'm done, and would prefer to edit box to disappear until I invoked it again...but perhaps that is just me.

I must mention: only registered visitors can leave comments on my site.

Most blogs that I have seen the comment box remains visible all the time so that;s OK by me
