Hey Alberto,
There is no function in the google maps API that I can use to make the map as big.
The only idea that I have for you is to create a new template for the hotspots menu, that will have a width of 100%. This way the map will strecht on all the visible area.
Check this example here:

Heck that looks cool! Thanks for the recommend to the forum Daniel. On a similar note is it possible to feature hotspot maps at varying sizes on the same website? Is this linked to your solution above? Creating a new template for hotspot pages?

Might try your code above to make the map to the required size on a blank page and then iframe that into the required position?

Hoping iframes dont mess up the app?

Btw how would you load up the markers for a specific section on this map is that doable

I didn't understand your idea about the iframe. I saw already several hotspots users with maps stretching on all the available browser space.

You can always this idea. Create several menu items like hotspots1, hotspots2, hotspots3. And you will have to assign for each menu item a new joomla template. In this joomla template you can play around with the width - till you achieve what you need.

Cool I just used a blank joomla template, all is looking just fine. Many thanks for your tips they certainly helped. With this sort of approach is it possible to get the hotspot markers showing up?

Hi sorry if Im not being very descriptive. I guess I wondered if / how you make the hotspots you have defined show up on the google map that is implemented in the way described above. I ask as for me the hotspots I have defined arent actually showing up on the page I setup.

californiaclassics.co.uk/index.php/on-location

Ive put the page which follows the pointers above utilising an iframe. Has using the iframe stopped the hotspots which are on my hotspot map showing?

I hope Ive managed to arrange some words that make sense to someone other than myself. Apologies for not being more descriptive.

Wait a little bit - this map that you have on your page is not created with the hotspots component?
If you put hotposts in the iframe it should work.

Aaah I think Ive got crossed wires here. I came to the page whilst checking for a means to feature a hotspot map in multiple dimensions. E.g. one map thats 300px x 300px and on other pages is say 500px x 400px. I couldnt see how to do this through the component interface so popped on earlier today to see if anyone else has asked a question about featuring hotspot maps on the same website at different sizes.

Is that possible? I guess thats the space my head is in, and I saw this thread and wondered if it could be an approach to achieve this. Apologies for my mind jumping along three steps it shouldnt have taken.

Ok, reading your answer again, I got what you was saying.
Yea, it should work. Just make different templates for the different menus and publish hotspots to them. I've sent you a private message with a website having the hotspots taking all the area.

Hi Daniel,
re the site you sent is it possible to confirm how much of the code I can see in the page source has to be put there by hand, Ive picked out the hotspot specific bits but Im not sure how much of that was put in by hand (not generated by the hotspot module)

I sent you the site to show you only what is possible.
What changes you need to make to your joomal template - no idea. It is not that difficult - just make a fluid joomla template (search google for fluid joomla templates).

I think Im not understanding the "Just make different templates for the different menus and publish hotspots to them." bit, apologies if for not understanding but what would part of hotspots would I be publishing. Im not sure how I would go about setting the size of the instances of hotspot.

go to your menu. Create a new menu link to hotspots.
Go to your templates. Select different template than the default one - and on the left you should have an option to assign this template to a specific menu item. Choose the hotspots menu link there.
Now when you go to your frontend and click on the hotspots link - a different joomla template will be loaded for it. When you click on a different link in your site - your default joomla template will be loaded. Do you get it now?

Its the size part Im not getting sorry, where are you defining the size of the different instances of the hotspot map?

E.g. page One on yourwebsite the hotspot map would be 400x300px, page two the hotspot map would be 200px x 600px

The bit Im missing is where you assign the dimentions to each of the maps on page one and two?

The map takes the available width in your main container.
If your site displays the articles in 700px, then the map will stretch in those 700px.
If you have only 300px, then the map will be 300px wide.

There is only option for height as far as I know - no width option.

Is it possible to override the height of map (supplied in the backend of hotspots)?
I only ask as the hotspot map If I follow the "using another template" method Im getting a hotspots map exactly the same size as it is on the home page of my website:

www.californiaclassics.co.uk/index.php and californiaclassics.co.uk/index.php/map-it

You could use template overrides in each template:
docs.joomla.org/How_to_override_the_outp...rom_the_Joomla!_core

and what you actually need to change with each override resides in views/all/tmpl/default.php
line 77
<div id="map_cont" style="height: <?php echo (HotspotsHelper::getSettings('map_height', 600) + 10); ?>px;">
change it to
<div id="map_cont" style="height: your_Desired_height px;">

I was searching trough the forum and found that thread :)
labs.compojoom.com/index.php/hotspots - this is going to be the new hotspots -> as you can see in the toolbar there is a resize button. I think you guys are going to like it :)
