Hi - We are using a user level of "guest" on a Joomla 2.5.x site for the purposes of showing/hiding login and logout menu items. That all works fine. When I installed and configured your CMandrill extension, and enabled the Mandrill plug-in, I received an error message when tried to register a new user. It made me think the plug-in was not triggered since this menu item was set to "guest" and the access level for the plug-in was "public". I changed the access level for the plug-in to "guest" and tried the registration process again. Sure enough, it worked fine. When I went into the CMandrill dashboard, I see this message: "So, you've provided an api key! That is awesome! However it seems that the System - Mandrill plugin is not enabled. If you don't enable it, we won't be able to send mails through the Mandrill service! To go to the plugin manager and enable it click here." When I click the link I see that the plug-in is in fact enabled; however, because it has an access level of "guest" your code does not consider it enabled. This guest/public behavior is optional in Joomla 2.5.x, but I believe it is standard in (at least) Joomla 3.2+. Is this guest/public functionality supported in your code? If not, it appears I will need to make a change in the CMandrill code to work with Joomla 2.5.x. Thanks!

Wait a second. We use the extension here. We also have a guest group and the plugin is published with access level set to public.

I don't see any error messages?

That's great. Any idea why it wouldn't work on this site? We have no modified any core Joomla files, nor have we modified anything related to the CMandrill extension, sending emails, etc.
It is strange that it does not work when set to public access level, and reports that it is not enabled when set to guest access level.

Have you created the guest group or was it auto-created by joomla? Maybe you've missed something in the configuration of the group.
If that is not the case I would need to look at your site.
You are saying that whenever you publish the plugin in the guest group it sends emais only for the registration. And when people log in they see - "you need to enable the mandrill plugin" message?

Hi - I apologize for the delayed reply. I configured the guest group like I have done many times. I even had my partner check the configuration and she could not find anything wrong with it. I have tried various settings without success. When I go into the component CMandrill, I still see the notification shown here: prntscr.com/2fwn0e . If I click on the 'click here' link in the message, I am taken to the plug-in manager, where I see this: prntscr.com/2fwoey . It seems to work okay, although something is obviously wrong on the site for me to get the message.

Thanks again for any assistance you can provide. Because the site contains some sensitive information related to children, I would not be able to provide you admin access to it at this time. That said, I might be able to configure an account and block access to the sensitive information should you still think that is necessary to resolve this matter.

I still think that something is wrong with your guest group. On a normal joomla installation one would need to enable the plugins for the public group if he wants that they work for all users - no matter what group they belong to. Guest view level is only for unregistered users.

I hear you and understand what you are saying. :)

Breaking it down to simpler terms, maybe we can forget about the group thing for a moment. I am not sure that would cause the issue I reported seeing in admin. Why would the component think the plug-in was not published? As I said, I get that message in the component, and when I click the link to go to the plug-in, it is enabled. Any ideas there? Are you thinking anything with the group setup could cause this?

Hello,
Just installed and configured the plugin and component. I have the same issue mentioned in this post.
Joomla: 3.3.6

Funny thing, to fix the "error" message, in the plugin configuration change the "Ordering" and put it first.
Then check back to your component, the message should have disappeared

My only issue now are the default templates that don't show up.

**hope this helps anyone.
thx

Hi,
Good luck on sorting this. I just gave up. Sort of followed my own advice: "Just because I can, should I?" No, I shouldn't.
Cheers!
