Importing comments from JomComment, Am I doing it right ? 4 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Hello,

I used JomComment for a while and then changed to JoomlaComment, after a couple of months of use i wanted to import my old comments from JomComment database.

When i try and hit "Import All" it just go to the home page and no comments get imported, is this because there is an ID conflict between tables ? because i thought JoomlaComment would automatically change or adapt the IDs from the old comment?

Anyway, is this the cause or there something else ?

Best regards.

if you send me a dump with jomcomment's comments I could try to import them locally and tell you if everything is fine, or if you have to change something

Hello Daniel

So there shouldn't be an ID conflict ? even if an old comment has an id of 34 "in JomComment" and there is a new comment already with the ID of 34 "JoomlaComment" ?

I'm thinking of changing all of the IDs of JomComment manually.

To be honest, I don't know. I have to test it and see how the comments are imported.
I guess that we should not take the id of jomcomment, but who knows???(I didn't write the import function)

Ok, I tested it with your dump file.
For me the import went without any problem.

Joomlacomment adapted the ids. Actually the ids of jomcomment were saved in the importid field not in the id filed. And joomlacomment just added new ids for jomcomment.

After clicking importAll I got a message saying - import successful.

Can you please PM me a dump of JomComment rows from Joomlacomment table so i can import them directly via phpmyadmin ?

The import is not working for me from Joomlacomment admin.

Guilty

Can you PM me your e-mail? I just made an export and I hope that it will work for you. It took me 50minutes to figure out how to export just the fields I want from phpmyadmin
